Wildcard won FRAG University 2026 after defeating DENDELE 3-2 in the grand final, closing the deciding Anubis map 16-14 in overtime. The result included a 1-0 advantage awarded to Wildcard for reaching the final through the upper bracket.
That starting point is essential to understanding the score. Wildcard and DENDELE each won two of the four maps actually played; the upper-bracket advantage supplied Wildcard's remaining point. It was a hard-earned title decided on the server, but not a final in which Wildcard won three played maps.
The tournament ran in Syracuse, New York, on October 10-11 with a $25,000 prize pool. The final appears on the match record under October 12 because of the displayed time zone. Wildcard earned $13,750, and their run included a win over NRG and two victories over DENDELE.
DENDELE forced the upper-bracket winner to a decider

The veto removed Ancient and Dust2. Wildcard selected Mirage and Inferno, while DENDELE chose Nuke and Anubis. DENDELE immediately erased the practical cushion of the default point by winning Mirage 13-4, after taking a 9-3 halftime lead. Wildcard then answered on Nuke, building an 8-4 lead before closing 13-8.
Inferno again favored DENDELE. They led 7-5 at the switch and won the next half 6-3 for a 13-8 result. That made Anubis decisive. Neither side had managed to win both of its own map selections: DENDELE took Wildcard's Mirage and Inferno, while Wildcard won DENDELE's Nuke pick.
Anubis supplied the closest contest. Wildcard led 7-5 at halftime, but DENDELE won the second half by the same margin to force overtime. Wildcard took the added rounds 4-2 and finished 16-14. The losing team had recovered twice during the series, yet the last recovery did not produce the extra rounds needed for the trophy.
- The default 1-0 point came from Wildcard's upper-bracket route.
- Mirage and Inferno went to DENDELE; Nuke went to Wildcard.
- Wildcard won Anubis in overtime to complete the official 3-2 series result.
The final was not decided by the largest individual kill total. DENDELE's doc recorded 88 kills and 48 deaths with a 1.56 series rating, while koala contributed 74 kills and a 1.31 rating. reck led Wildcard's series rating at 1.22, with 71 kills against 56 deaths. DENDELE had substantial individual production, but Wildcard secured the decisive map.
A title and ranking boost, with qualification still unresolved

The upper-bracket route mattered beyond the opening advantage. Before the final, Wildcard had already beaten NRG and DENDELE, making the eventual title a run through other teams involved in the Americas Major race. DENDELE returned from the lower bracket to challenge them again, which is why the two wins over the same opponent belong to different stages of the tournament.
HLTV reported Wildcard's projected chance of reaching the Singapore Major rising from 33 percent before the final day to 70 percent after the title. That is a projection at the time of the report, not an invitation or a promise of qualification. The distinction is particularly important when results and remaining events can still alter the field.
FiRe Last Chance was listed as Wildcard's next confirmed event, with Ninjas in Pyjamas, 100 Thieves and GamerLegion also slated to attend. It offers another competitive opportunity before the invite cutoff, so the Syracuse title improves Wildcard's position without ending their qualification campaign. The completed achievement is the FRAG University trophy; the Major outcome remains a separate question.
| Final component | Wildcard-DENDELE |
|---|---|
| Upper-bracket advantage | 1-0 |
| Mirage | 4-13 |
| Nuke | 13-8 |
| Inferno | 8-13 |
| Anubis | 16-14 |
For Wildcard, the most convincing part of the finish was their ability to win the closest map after DENDELE had repeatedly leveled the contest. The default point made the final's accounting unusual, but it did not spare them an overtime decider. They left Syracuse with the trophy, the winner's prize and a stronger position in the qualification race, while still needing to protect that progress at the events ahead.
